Seriously… one of the best tunes I’ve heard for a while.
How many hooks exactly? Winner.
And the singer produced the whole video. Dude.

Owl City - Shooting Star
Adam Young has done it again :) Another pretty pop hit. I love this for what it is, and he is extremely good at it. The track was released today. Only critisism is the video for this kind of copies the Johnny Neon - Hearts video with the whole dog cam thing for a music vid. Check it here: http://vimeo.com/37123607
I love this. But it’s grown on me. I playlisted it immediately after hearing it for the first time, but then didn’t come back to it. Her voice is so sweet and gentle yet creepy - I love that melody. The production is very eerie and atmospheric electronic too.
Archeo - Glass Half Empty
I first heard this track when it was featured as Record of the Day and thought it was a pretty great pop song - love the play on lyric too. It’s been released on iTunes this week which was what prompted me to put it on again (I follow his activity on Facebook). Just plugging this now because it is excellent.
Sooo delighted this track charted. Sub Focus’ management sits above us in the office and I’ve heard this track pumping through the ceiling on several occasions. It’s a banger and I couldn’t wait for it to be released. Alice’s vocals sound killer on it too. An original sound and not cliche in the slightest! That hook is so good too.
These guys have a fun, bouncy, electro-indie-pop vibe - this song is great as well. I just wish the sun would come out in London so listening to it would be even better.
Great choice of free download from WeAreHunted. I love this track - feels like it would fit brilliantly in some awesome sync in a TV programme. I love that dreamy, verby vocal and guitar mixed with electronic production. Old school “We’re all going on a roadtrip” vibe to it.
Luke White - Black Market Red Roses
Loving this track at the moment. His new video is totally lovely too.
Pop Justice posted this track by Little Nikki who was formerly in Soundgirl. I loved ‘I’m The Fool’ but I was never taken by any of their other songs. Personally I think she’s got a cute voice and lots of potential as a solo artist. In my opinion, this is not a killer hit but it’s quirky and a great pop track. People on YouTube are comparing her to Rihanna, I’d agree, just a mini-er version. I think it’s better than Rita Ora too.
I’m not as excited about this track as some of the others I’ve posted but I do like it (more boys and guitars). It’s got a very retro feel to it and cool dreamy vocals, nice lyrics. It’s been playlisted for me today :)
An indier version of the Scissor Sisters. Great hooks, happy melodies and bouncy synths.
If I’m honest, I wasn’t sure about his stuff when I first heard it. I saw him play a small acoustic set last night and he slowly won me over by the end. I woke up this morning with this track in my head. There’s something quite hypnotic about his sound. I really like his vocal.
I really like her last album but I’d never been through any back catalogue - it’s interesting to see how an artist has progressed. This is an old track but it’s great - chorus is a little sickly sweet pop but I’m quite delighted it popped up on The SixtyOne today.
